Professional Development WorkshopsTeachers will earn professional development credits for their participation in the RET program and the Summer Science Institute. We will soon offer a workshop for teachers that will offer an introduction to nanotechnology as well as a curriculum development component. Professional Development credits will be earned for this experience. More details will be posted as they become available.
What is Nanotechnology? As scientists build stronger materials and devices that use smaller integrated circuits, there is a greater need to understand matter on scales that are only slightly larger than an atom, yet smaller than molecules. They must understand the nano scale: scales of matter that are one billionth of a meter in size. As we try to understand matter at the nanoscale, the lines between physics, chemistry, and biology blur, making nanotechnology a truly interdisciplinary and integrated approach to learning science. Our educational programs will immerse you in the world of the nanoscale, for a hands-on, mind-active experience you will never forget. Link to NNIN Education Portal
Nanotechnology ActivitiesWe have developed several nanotechnology activities for classroom use, as well as activities that your students can do in our teaching clean room here.
