Curriculum Overview

This lab is designed to help students understand the importance of channel design in biotechnology and nanotechnology and the methods used to study the behavior of fluids as they flow through a channel. Students create a fluidic channel in gelatin using a paperclip to make a pattern. When the paperclip is removed, the gelatin is placed on a glass slide to give a semi-optically transparent device. Students then inject dye into the channel and observe the fluid flow.
