Curriculum Overview
This is an inquiry-based approach to transitioning from linear trends to exponential trends in a grade 6-7 math class. Joe Donahue is a math teacher at Santa Ynez Elementary School. He contributed to research on whether nanoparticles are harmful by looking to see how bacteria absorb them. This curriculum is designed for his math students, who deal with linear trends all year. The surprise moment is the discovery that populations follow exponential growth trend.
