Curriculum Overview

The labs below help students understand the reactions and the research involved in a catalytic converter. Students will be introduced to catalytic converters and understand the difficulties encountered by researchers in creating nanoparticles of consistent size and shape. They will understand how the surface area, type, and/or concentration of a catalyst affect the rate of a reaction. Finally, students will be introduced to the societal, ethical, and environmental impacts of catalytic converters (and nanotechnology).
