NSF-sponsored program offers free facility use to some

This new NNIN program, called Lab Experience for Faculty, offers a faculty member within a US campus to write a small proposal for the opportunity to use the capabilities of an NNIN fabrication lab free of charge.

In brief, the features of the program are as follows:

  • 10 weeks (dates are flexible, summer is ideal)
  • $8,000 salary, $3,000 housing, up to $1,000 travel
  • Costs to use the nanofabrication facility will be waived during this period
  • We provide staff to assist you with tool use and training.
  • A coordinator will assist you with logistics, such as travel and housing

In effect, this might be of interest for faculty who wish to pursue an outside period of research at UCSB under the support of NSF and the NNIN.
